Ben Bayly’s Baked Camembert

A staple at our Restaurant, Origine, and a French classic. Simple, easy & delicious.

Tip: if you are short on time, this is an easy one and a showstopper!

Ingredients & Methods

  • 250g camembert cheese
  • 1 clove garlic (finely sliced)
  • 40ml Calvados
  • Thyme sprigs and roasted thyme leaves (optional, to serve)
  • Toasted Bread or your favourite crackers (to serve)
  1. Preheat the oven to 220°C.
  2. Place into a small ovenproof baking dish.
  3. Using a knife, make a few slits in the top of the camembert. Place the garlic clove inside the camembert and pour over the Calvados.
  4. Bake for 15 minutes until cheese is bubbly and gooey and the cheese is golden on top.
  5. Top the camembert with thyme sprigs and roasted thyme leaves, if using, and serve with toasted bread.
